How To: Grow & Sculpt your eyebrows to perfection for under $10!

Hi & Welcome Everyone!

This is my first tutorial on a topic I have found to be a hit on a day-to-day basis. Looking through magazines, I'm sure you notice celebrities with these gorgeous, fully formed, beautifully sculpted & perfectly colored brows! A lot of women find it is so darn frustrating to get that look.. but there are simple steps to follow and reasons for that frustration that I would like to explain.

Here's what you'll need:

  1. Eyebrows- Ha! check (I'd hope..)
  2. Patience- Seriously this is very important because if you're reading this, you've most likely over-plucked due to frustration (some under-pluck, which is the easier of the two to fix.. but both very fixable with patience)
  3. An eyebrow brush:
*I purchased this brush at the dollar store along with tweezers, an eyebrow trimmer, nail clippers, and a file for $1!
 4. NYX "EYEBROW CAKE POWDER"
*This product is seriously the key to the brows! It is sold for around $5 in most local beauty supply stores & comes with a mini brow brush to apply the cake powder perfectly.. just for the record- its NOT "cakey"!

5. Highlighter or silver/white/gold eyeshadow for underneath brow

HUGE TIP:
  • Dark haired people should pick a color 1-2 shades lighter than the color of the hair on their head.
  • Light haired people should pick a color 1-2 shades darker than the color of hair on their head
  • NYX conveniently supplies two different colors in each set. So, if you're feeling a different brow color for your mood, that specific day, or your outfit, you have more than one option!
Now that we've got that down, I'll walk you through the "How to" tutorial.  Take a look a this photo to get an idea of the "ideal" eyebrow, keeping in mind the where the Arch (B) is placed before we begin:

  1. Make sure you have a clean face-like a painting, you always want a fresh palette.
  2. Look in the mirror at the shape of your brow. The front of your brow should align with the upper bridge of your nose (A)
  3. Brush your eyebrow with the eyebrow brush in an upward direction
  4. Fill in your brows BEFORE you pluck
  5. Make one defining straight line at the edge of your brow with a dab of the powder. Gradually sweep brush over, following the natural shape you already have & focus on any imperfections after.

6. Since I do my brows daily, I do not need to pluck, but now is where I would. Use my brows for a guide as to where you should pluck. Otherwise, you can purchase an eyebrow stencil at at beauty retail stores for really affordable prices to get a better idea on the shape you'd like to achieve!

***IF YOU'VE PLUCKED TOO MUCH ALREADY LEAVE THOSE AREAS ALONE. THERE ARE ONLY TWO THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR OVER-PLUCKED BROWS:
  • LET THEM GROW IN ON THEIR OWN
  • FILL THEM IN
7.  I always advise people to NOT pluck the top of their brows. This would make the arch look deformed. You can get a great looking arch from the bottom every time.

* If you haven't noticed how many times I've mentioned it already..the arch is the "money maker" of the brow! ;)

8. Clean up any areas of unwanted powder with a tissue or cotton swab

9. Highlight underneath the brows with a "highlighting" cream or an eye-shadow. I prefer whites, silvers, or golds. It makes the eyes stand out and the arch look amazing. This step is the last step & is the finishing touch. The highlighter is the the push up bra to arch of the eyebrows. It gives your brows that "UMPH" that an under-wire bra would give to the boobies ;)

Give me some feedback on how you liked my step by step tutorial. I did this kind of quick, because I wanted to get it out for today, so if I forgot anything or you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Thank everyone!
